We received tickets to watch The Star in theaters this past November. (This was before all the sicknesses took over our lives.) The girls hadn’t been to the theater since the Thanksgiving before when they watch their first movie, Moana, in the theater – IMAX! Norm and I viewed Same Kind of Different as Me the month before. This was a rare treat and from the moment the movie started, the girls were at the edge of their seats. We laughed, we cried, we reflected, and we just really enjoyed the story that we have heard so many times before but from a slightly different perspective – a donkey’s story!

I remember performing in The Small One musical in elementary school and this movie reminds me of that story. A small donkey longs for something beyond the typical donkey life. In The Star, Bo leaves the village mill and goes on an adventure of his dreams. He encounters a sheep named Ruth who has lost her flock and a dove named Dave who has some major goals. There are also three funny camels and other eccentric stable animals. They all become heroes in the greatest story ever told – the first Christmas.
