3 Simple Steps
Step 0 :: Sign up at the library or sign up online.
We like have a physical reminder to read and record/review the books, so we go to the library to sign up. But doing the program online is fun too! They will send you book recommendations and choose from a list of fun activities to complete toward getting a badge.
Step 1 :: Choose books + start reading
We have lots of recommendations! Just ask! 🙂
Step 2 :: Fill out your Summer Reading Game board + visit the Library for your prize
We’re working on it! For every 30 minutes you read, you can color in a stamp. You can also do activities to color in your stamp or listen a story if you’re still working on your reading skills. Bring your game board into the library and spin the wheel. Once you get a BINGO, you receive your first prize. If you’re an older kid and don’t want to spin the wheel, you can the Kid Power Volunteer for a teen game board instead. There are also lots of fun movies, shows, and storytimes to attend every week at all the branches!
7/1 UPDATE:
Melody volunteered for a 2-hour shift on Sunday so she helped one cousin spin the wheel and get his game board stamped and she helped another cousin sign up for the pre-reader game.
I’m halfway through the game so I received a fun light-up pen as my first prize.
Step 3 :: Complete a blackout to get your final prize
We’re looking forward to it! 🙂
7/1 UPDATE:
Both girls got a BINGO and a blackout on their game board so they received their first and final prizes.
Are you or your kids participating in any summer reading programs this summer?
