I must confess – I underestimated this book. I thought I wouldn’t be interested in reading about these men. But, as usual, I got swept away in the stories…in the reading about these courageous, self-giving, compassionate men.

Some of these men I had heard of, and some of them I hadn’t. But either way, they were all alike. They put their faith in God first. They put others before themselves, and they cared for others too. My favorite people to read about were Jackie Robinson because he worked hard and Dietrich Bonhoeffer for his great courage.
Of course they never planned to be well-known but I love how they used their God-given abilities to be a light in the world and help others.
A Note from Melody’s Mom:
This is another wonderful book of stories of ordinary people who didn’t purposefully set out to have to take bold and courageous steps of faith but lived out their days with purpose to be used by God. In doing so, they impacted the world in a way they never knew they could and in some cases, in ways they will never see because they sacrificed their lives for something bigger than themselves. As the young generation are looking around, they may see danger and destruction, but may it also be true that they see love and beauty. This book inspires young readers to do just that – live life so others may see believe in Love. Make sure to also check out Empowered: How God Shaped 11 Women’s Lives (And Can Shape Yours Too) about women who God used to make a difference in our world.
