We may add to this list, but here are some super quick thoughts we had from our recent trip. Some items are more specific to an international trip to the city like Hong Kong and less specific to…say our time in the Australian rainforest or weekend trip to Lake Tahoe.
UNPACK
Make sure to especially unpack your toiletries. You don’t want moldy toothbrushes!
REFLECT + REVIEW
What worked or didn’t work out on this trip? Did you pack too much? Are there unused items that took up too much space in your luggage? Were there transportation delays? Could they have been avoided with better planning? Was there miscommunication of plans? What was amazing? Why? Are there places you would visit again if you travel to this destination?
SHARE ABOUT YOUR ADVENTURES
Share where you went and your experience in a different place. Don’t overdo the sharing because I heard people don’t always appreciate oversharing of vacation stories. We have no problem with this so please tell us all your stories!! Even if we never plan to visit a place, it’s fun to hear about the culture and how they are the same or different than our own. Which brings us to the next point…
We shared the RECAP HERE.
LESSONS LEARNED
There are many lessons to be learned from traveling. There are so many etiquette-related things we never think about when we are with people who are like us. We learn the history as well as the pop culture of the place and people we visit. For us, it makes us see things from a different perspective after we come back home.
DOUBLE-CHECK BANK STATEMENTS
We’ve never had a problem with this, but to make sure there are no mix-ups as systems are different in different places, just double-check your numbers and transactions.
REMOVE INTERNATIONAL PHONE PLAN PACKAGE(S)
If you got an international phone plan when you were traveling to avoid roaming fees, make sure to have them removed. Our TravelPass was for a certain number of days as you can see in the pic below so there wasn’t anything to cancel but your plan may be different.
CHECK + REPLY TO URGENT MESSAGES
The interwebs never sleeps and life goes on even when you are on vacation, so it’s important to check messages and you get home and reply to urgent message as soon as you can, especially if there were any work-related ones that need your attention.
