Norm’s Review – Tori Kelly’s new album Hiding Place displays her versatile and soaring voice in true soul/Gospel/jazz/R&B fashion. This album is more of a Gospel album as opposed to her previous album which was mostly of the Pop genre. She wrote nearly half of the album with none other than Kirk Franklin, a Gospel legend. There are lots of spontaneous vocals runs Tori belts throughout each song.

The last song Soul’s Anthem is sung acapella with tight harmonies woven throughout by the backing Gospel choir with a different take on the traditional hymn – It Is Well With My Soul. Just As Sure also has amazing harmonies throughout the song from the beginning to the end.

Lastly, my favorite song is Psalm 42 which features the simplicity of only Tori (with her acoustic guitar) and Kirk (with amazing piano accompaniment).
