Maverick and Me

I know there are many people and animals out there who are lost or lonely. When I saw this story, I was really moved by how one person’s action led to a very happy dog in a loving family. So now, I think it’s great to have compassion, just like the woman in the story and love others, even your pets. 🙂

*Maverick and Me

Note from Melody’s mom: This rescue dog story came at the perfect time. Our friends recently rescue an old dog who had many health issues (among other issues!) and the community rallied around to help him. Maverick and Me is a simple and lovely story about a dog named Maverick who was in a similar situation. When Maverick is found, he was hopeful to get a new home. The illustrations are cute and help to tell the story to children (and adults) who want to read a story of connection and how we can make a difference in a small or big way.

I like that Maverick got a big party for himself when he got adopted.  I also like that the woman who decided to rescue him bought him food and supplies.

I would recommend this book to kids 5-8, and also to all dog lovers.

OUR FRIEND FRODO

Frodo is a dog that has a story similar to Maverick’s. He was rescued by a friend of ours a couple months back, and he was hairless, dirty, and smelly. He was also very tiny, and had a tail like a rat’s tail. He had to get medication.

Luckily, the community came through to help him out after some friends set up a youcaring account. He’s been doing great and looks better. I helped him cheer up a couple of weeks ago. I think, though, seeing Frodo the way he is today, that he has maybe finally found his forever family.
