In the book, Sam is nervous – or as he says, he has a “flippy in his tummy.”
The entire class learns a lesson on how to be more aware of their feelings and what to do with their feelings as the day goes on.
Sometimes we feel all of these feelings at once, sometimes we feel none of them, and sometimes we feel some of them that are not on the chart.

A Note from Melody’s Mom:
I think this is such an important topic! Even as adults, it may be a challenge to identify some of the emotions we are feeling. And at the seemingly rapid pace of life where if we miss one thing, we have “missed it all,” we don’t typically take the time to acknowledge and process how we feel about something that has happened or a conversation we’ve had. This is a great and simple tool to help kids understand and name their emotions. Sometimes that’s part of the battle and sometimes it’s the whole battle!
