*Fiona and the Easter Egg Hunt

Author: Richard Cowdrey
Released: 1/9/2024
Publisher: Zonderkidz
Page Count: 3
Ages: 4-8

My nephews always enjoy these Fiona books and this one didn’t disappoint. They plan to go to the zoo next week so it was fun to see all the illustrations of the baby answers in the book. They missed going to an Easter egg hunt this year so they liked reading about Fiona and Rico hiding the Easter eggs, and then finding them along with the special egg!

“Spring has sprung, and new adorable babies are being born all over the zoo! Fiona and her friend Rico the porcupine decide to have an Easter egg hunt for the animals. But when one of Mrs. Swan’s eggs gets accidentally mixed in with the Easter eggs in Fiona’s basket, will Fiona and her friends find the egg before it hatches?”

*Strong: Psalm 1

Author: Sally Lloyd-Jones (Author), Jago (Illustrator)
Released: 2/6/2024
Publisher: Zonderkidz
Page Count: 18
Ages: Baby-4 years

Like the other books in this series, the story is simple and the illustrations are eye-catching. This book talks about trees growing. They are strong in their roots and they bear fruits. It is like a conversation with God about His Creation.

“Inspired by Psalm 1, Strong’s lyrical text reminds little ones that God loves them and gives them strength. From Sally Lloyd-Jones, the author of the bestselling The Jesus Storybook Bible, and award-winning illustrator Jago, this uplifting board book encourages little ones to find strength in God’s great love for them. Like a little tree planted by a fresh stream, children can grow strong and joyful when they draw close to God’s Never Stopping, Never Giving Up, Unbreaking, Always and Forever Love.”

*This Special Blessing for You

Author: Eric Schrotenboer (Author), Meredith Schrotenboer (Author), Denise Hughes (Illustrator)
Released: 2/20/2024
Publisher: Zonderkidz
Page Count: 32
Ages: 4-8

This is a sweet book of moments in our everyday lives. And throughout all of those moments, God is there and He is always blessing us. This is a great reminder for us in the midst of things that don’t always go right or aren’t how we hoped they would be.

This Special Blessing for You uses words and phrases that help children better understand what God wants to communicate to them. Each promise and declaration is based on the Aaronic Blessing found in Numbers 6:23–27: “The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”

*Kiki Finds Her Voice: Be True to You and Embrace Your God-Given Gifts

Author: Kierra Sheard-Kelly (Author), Molly Hodgin Paul Kellam (Illustrator)
Released: 1/23/2024
Publisher: Zonderkidz
Page Count: 32
Ages: 5-10

I love “based on a true story” books. Kiki is invited to take part in a performance with some “cooler” girls and they are singing a song that her parents don’t really approve of. They also know a song doesn’t reflect who she is as a person. They encourage her to be herself and do her own thing. And she does! In the end, even the cool girls think she’s cool to sing a different song and she sang it so well that she continues to sing today! “God,” I pray as they walk away. “Please help me to keep making the right choices. Amen.”

“When the school talent show creates an issue between her and her friends, little Kiki learns what it means to follow your heart and be a leader. Based on a true story from the life of Grammy-nominated singer and actress Kierra Sheard-Kelly, this inspiring picture book helps kids discover how to best use their God-given gifts and what it means to be true to yourself even when it’s not the popular thing to do.”
